The Lodge at Bethany Way is excited to announce our partnership with Pixie Scientific — enhancing our continued commitment to providing the best advances in medical care to our residents.
Pixie Scientific has developed a revolutionary way of detecting the presence of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) earlier than traditional methods by utilizing a patented sensor and software platform to unobtrusively monitor incontinent seniors for an analyte commonly associated with UTIs. Pixie Scientific’s Pixie Smart pad is a disposable, one-time use pad that enables caregivers to monitor residents for the presence of the chemical traits associated with a UTI.
The Pixie Smart pad is advancing the standard of care for our residents. For incontinent seniors, particularly those with dementia, communicating the early symptoms of UTIs is difficult, and symptoms often only are apparent after a senior has already become agitated or disoriented, or falls.
Identified at-risk residents of The Lodge are placed on the Pixie Monitoring system allowing us the opportunity to better monitor them and provide relief quicker. Our hope is that by utilizing this technology, we will reduce hospitalizations and improve antibiotic stewardship for our residents, ensuring they have less disruption to their lives.
